To advance the development of co-investment strategies specifically for the .Stat Suite, two focused workshops were held on 5 and 13 March, following the presentation of the vision to the Management Level Group (MLG) in December 2024. These workshops aimed to explore projects beyond the baseline investment scenario by proposing two distinct co-investment opportunities, selected for their strategic significance and uniqueness.
The first workshop centred on improving the .Stat Core by significantly enhancing its performance for data dissemination, ensuring scalability in the cloud, and progressing towards a fully open-source technology stack. The second workshop, building on the session held in March 2024, focused on boosting data accessibility through the integration of SDMX with AI technologies, identifying the most suitable co-investment scenario(s) to explore further.
Community members engaged in extensive discussions to refine these co-investment proposals, assess resource needs, and prioritise activities essential for bringing them to fruition. Both workshops proved to be a success, as evident by the number of participants expressing intentions to co-invest in these initiatives.
To maintain this momentum and define tangible deliverables, several activities will be carried out with SIS-CC members and partners over the coming months. These steps will help shape the Community’s next strategic cycle 2025-2030. They include confirming the appetite for co-investment among interested organisations, arranging deep-dive discussions to clarify costs and timelines, and consolidating the outcomes into high-level co-investment plans.
Through this collaborative approach, the SIS-CC aims to further strengthen the .Stat Suite’s core capabilities while opening up innovative paths for AI-driven data discovery and advanced performance. The insights gathered, along with subsequent commitments, will guide the future direction of the .Stat Suite and continue to drive the Community towards shared goals and sustainable growth.
The next workshops, focusing on improving the SDMX data modelling experience, and SDMX data orchestration & computation, are to take place sometime in June, ultimately leading to a new strategy by year-end.
