The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), organised a workshop on Advanced Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) Tools and Platforms.
The Workshop was held at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok, Thailand, from 11 to 15 November 2019, and took place within the framework of the UNSD-FCDO Project on SDG Monitoring.
Representatives from the National Institute of Statistics of Cambodia, the Central Statistical Office of Ethiopia, the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, the National Bureau of Statistics of Tanzania, as well as the National Statistical Office of Thailand, took part in the training allowing them to advance their knowledge of SDMX and related tools.
Hands-on training was provided on data modelling in SDMX and use of advanced tools with a focus on the .Stat Suite. The participants gained the skills required to manage the data flow from the production to the dissemination of data, including preparation of data for entry, uploading data and structures, as well as maintaining and updating the structures and data.
The Workshop has very much raised the awareness of advanced tools and platforms available to support statistical data and metadata sharing, and how these can be used to facilitate the exchange and dissemination of SDG indicators and other statistical data.
