Building statistical capacity for education: the Madagascar case study

In our latest newsletter we share how the Madagascar’s Ministry of National Education (MEN), in partnership with UNESCO, ILO and the OECD, completed a pilot project to strengthen its statistical capacity for education. By adopting SDMX data modelling and experimenting with the .Stat Suite, the initiative has laid the foundations for better governance, interoperability, and evidence-based planning. The project stands as a model for other countries seeking scalable and country-owned solutions.

Attention also turns to the SDMX Global Conference 2025, which will bring the global data community together from 29 September to 3 October. The conference features a three-day plenary with presentations, discussions, and interactive Q&As, followed by two days of in-depth capacity building. Alongside, a parallel exhibition will showcase the tools and services driving the structured data value chain — making it the year’s premier SDMX forum for exchanging knowledge and best practices.

Finally, we share the key takeaways from the Community’s workshop on Calculation & Orchestration with SDMX, chaired by Gyorgy Gyomai, that delved into how automated workflows can be strengthened through metadata-driven orchestration pipelines and VTL execution engines.
