The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) has launched the Asia-Pacific SDG Gateway with a wealth of data, statistics and analysis in the region. The portal’s centerpiece is the data dissemination platform SDG Gateway Data Explorer based on the .Stat Suite.

Dayyan Shayani, Associate Statistician at UNESCAP and project coordinator, stated that “we chose .Stat Suite for three reasons. First, it is built with the SDMX standard at the core, thus enabling open exchange of data and metadata with our partners. Second, it is backed by a global community of users and developers, ensuring the long-term continuity of the platform. And third, it is open source.”

In partnership with SIS-CC, UNESCAP is now offering technical assistance to member States in Asia-Pacific to modernise their data dissemination platforms, standardise data modeling with SDMX, and take advantage of the SIS-CC Community and the tools they develop as open source.
