The community supports and builds partnerships, supporting the progressing of standardisation, SDMX tools, data modeling, and capacity development.
Our objective is to empower regional or sectorial entities (such as regional development or specialised agencies) to support a wider set of organisations rather than the Community directly supporting a large influx of new members from varying capacity levels.
The use of common open source tools in all of these initiatives will greatly help in bringing together the fragmented efforts to support capacity and platform development, and reinforce the country-level efforts to build a national data backbone.
For more details on the rational behind this strategy, confer reports from the:
2017 SIS-CC workshop: “Sustainable Data for Development – Building an inclusive data ecosystem“,
and 2018 SIS-CC workshop: “Building National Data Backbones – Empowering Countries through capacity development and technology”.
